We didn’t realize how trendy we were at FarmShare. Our June 25 newsletter, Fresh from the Farm featured a recipe for Cilantro Gremolata. To take advantage of the lovely cilantro in our delivery last week (from Urban Growth Farm), we created this recipe substituting seasonal cilantro for the more traditional parsley. Over coffee on Sunday morning, we spied yet another recipe for Cilantro Gremolata in the New York Times Magazine. In case you missed it, here’s a link to the article and a recipe for Roast Chicken Legs with Cilantro Gremolata. And here's the FarmShare version from last week's newsletter.
FarmShare’s Cilantro Gremolata
1 bunch cilantro
2-3 garlic cloves (or 2-3 scapes minced)
1 tsp fresh grated lemon zest
½ tsp salt
1 tsp honey
2 tsp olive oil
Remove stems from cilantro. Finely dice or process all ingredients in a food processor. Blend in honey and oil. That's it! The gremolata is ready to enjoy with grilled fish, poultry, meats or roasted potatoes.
TIP: This is one of those simple summer recipes that can make use of other seasonal herbs from your garden or future FarmShare deliveries. Using this recipe as a base try other fresh, leafy, green herbs too such as basil, tarragon, or the traditional parsley.
The June 18 edition of the New York Times printed an article on our favorite seasonal ingredient: garlic scapes including a fabulous recipe for Garlic Scapes and White Bean Dip. In case you missed it, click here to readthe entire article and recipes.

Finally, it's strawberry season once again. Unfortunately, the strawberry season doesn't last forever. In fact, it's rather fleeting. But we're planning to enjoy them while we can. FarmShare subscribers can look forward to delicious, locally grown strawberries in our inaugural June 18 delivery.
We'll have some tasty strawberry recipes for you too in the first seasonal edition of our Fresh from the Farm newsletter.
In the meantime, try this simple, delicious (and a little bit decadent) way to enjoy fresh, local berries -- it's a FarmShare Kitchen favorite.

STRAWBERRIES & CREAM
Ingredients:
Strawberries, Sour Cream, Brown Sugar
Dip strawberries in sour cream, then dip lightly in brown sugar and pop them into your mouth. Yum!
We'd like to take this opportunity to welcome our 2009 Tower City subscribers!
There's less than one week until our first delivery at Tower City!
If you've reserved a Full Season or Early Summer season subscription, your deliveries will begin next Thursday, June 18. We hope you're as excited as we are about the delicious season of local eating that lies ahead.
We've been busy visiting our farmers to check up on the fresh vegetables, fruits, and berries headed our way this season. Our inaugural June 18 delivery will feature juicy, sweet, first-of-the-season strawberries; spring lettuce; crispy radishes; bok choi; and a lot more!
Mid-Summer and Fall Harvest season subscribers: Please stay tuned, it won't be long until your deliveries begin as well. (And, if you'd like to join in the fun earlier, just let us know. Limited space is still available for our Early and Mid-Summer seasons.) The sign-up/payment deadline for Mid-Summer season is coming up on July 16, 2009. The deadline for Fall Harvest season is Oct. 1, 2009. (Don't worry, we'll send out reminders about these dates as our season progresses.)
We want your FarmShare experience to be a tasty one! If you have any questions or concerns regarding your FarmShare subscription, please feel free to contact us anytime by email at info@FarmShareOhio.com or by phone at 216.225.6311.
